A Blog Post Template to Get you Blogging Today

Nov 07, 2022
So you want to start a blog? Whether you are a small business owner who wants to build your brand or are interested in sharing your thoughts and musings in a lifestyle blog, you might be wondering where to start. Writing blogs is not only beneficial, but it's also a great hobby.

If you are looking for a blog post template, look no further. At Uyo Digital Marketing, we have all the resources to get going and some tips on how to start writing blogs.

What Is A Blog?

Chances are, you have read a blog or two in recent years. Some people are religious blog readers and never miss a post by their favorite blogger. Others like to browse blogs for a specific purpose, maybe a recipe or a product review.

Whatever the blog is about, you can count on a blog being on a regularly updated website and offering advice, stories, help, or reviews. Blogs are usually informal and more conversational than academic. Blogs are not often in-depth and highly researched; they don't require a high level of understanding or knowledge to follow along.

Another aspect of blogging is the comment section. Because bloggers often want to engage with their readers, there is likely an active comment section. It is common to see positive and negative comments here.

Maintaining a successful blog is more than just posting a new blog every week. The blogger needs to establish a relationship with the reader. Your subscribers need to feel like they are part of your stories and welcomed.

How To Write A Blog Post (5 Steps)

How to start writing a successful blog that attracts readers' attention and keeps it through the last sentence takes more than a good idea. And as a writer, you should follow these steps to ensure your blog is easy to read and entertaining. In addition, the following steps can be considered a way to create your own blog post template.

Step 1: Catchy Title

Many people think the title is an afterthought. Some writers will have an idea, write their story, then try to think of a title; this is a mistake. The title is eminently essential and can be considered a roadmap for your entire blog post.

When considering your title, there are several key factors to consider. If you want someone scanning webpages to stop on your blog, the title needs to be attention-grabbing. Your blog needs to be the answer to a question or problem the reader has, and your title needs to portray that.

To get a good idea for a title, do a little research. Very rarely are ideas completely original. Scan some other blogs and check out their titles. While you should never steal a title from another author, allowing other writers to do some of the legwork is fine. You want a title that teases the reader without giving away the ending and employs all the senses.

Step 2: Intriguing Introduction

After grabbing the reader with a fantastic heading, you need to prove they made the right choice by clicking on your blog. You need an introduction that holds their attention, even if they only glance. Blog readers are fickle, don't lose them with an uninteresting introduction.

When writing blogs, you will want to pay attention to the idea your introduction portrays. If you sound formal or academic, many readers will hit the back button, and you will have lost them. However, the same outcome can happen if you seem too informal or have typos.

You will want to find the balance between educational and emotional or formal and overly friendly. While this is a tricky balance to strike, it is possible. For example, you could put yourself in your readers' shoes.

Start with an exciting opening, either a short question or an interesting fact. Then lure the reader with a concise introduction to set the tone and rhythm for the rest of the post. Finally, hint at the solution to their problems without giving everything away.

Step 3: Well-Laid-Out Blog

When writing the meat of your blog, ensure you use multiple headers. Blog readers like to scan and don't want to look hard for their answers. If they see their answers laid out clearly in headings and small paragraphs throughout your piece, they are more likely to get to the end.

Ensure each of your subheadings is creative, similar to your title. Walk the line between vague and giving too much away. You want your readers to finish the blog rather than get the information they want halfway through.

You also need to make sure you are following a format. For example, start with numbers and move on to bullet points mid-way through. In that case, your blog will seem unprofessional and haphazard. However, you can follow various blog post templates if you want a little help with organization.

Step 4: Close Out with a Bang

If you have led your reader to the end of your blog, don't lose them at the finish line. A strong closing will leave your reader feeling satisfied and more likely to return for future posts.

Give your readers some encouragement now that they have made it through all of your information. Furthermore, avoid giving them anything new. The conclusion is a time to reinforce what has already been stated, not start something new.

Step 5: Proofread and Polish

Finally, after you have taken all the steps to draft a well-written blog, make sure you present it that way. Take the extra time to read through your blog again. Check for formatting consistency, grammar errors, run-on sentences, or confusing wording.

You want to show your readers that your words and ideas are worth reading. If your post seems untidy, unfinished, or rushed, they might not believe your story or follow your advice. You are showing your readers more than a story. You are showing them the only part of you possible online; make sure it's a good image.

Your website is a living, breathing thing. Not literally, of course, at least not until the AI uprising. But in a figurative sense? Absolutely. A website morphs and grows and matures. But it can also get sick. So, like other living, breathing things, your website needs regular checkups. The website development industry refers to this checkup as a “website audit.” Without a website audit, you could be the owner of an unhealthy website right now and not even know it! Website audits help you determine and improve the health of your website. You’ll know the specific problems you face and how to fix them. If you’ve never audited your website before or it’s been a while since you have, this article will be your go-to. We’ll discuss what is involved in a website audit, why it’s essential, and how you can do it yourself. (Plus, some bonus tips at the end of the article on auditing tools!)
